Kat’s Top Albums of 2010
“Echoes is the most sensational album opener all year! The Klaxons are more exciting than ever with the sharp turns of this album. Touching the brink of a cosmic explosion, borderline dissonance, and lustrous epiphany – Surfing the Void keeps you on the edge of your seat.” - on the Klaxons ‘Surfing The Void’ (read more)

Mike’s Top Albums of 2010
It was disappointing to see the albums I loved in 2010 not make any lists, or ranked absurdly lower than they should have been. I would like to use this as a ladder to credit twenty astounding, meaningful records. Sorry, but there’s no “My Dark Beautiful Twisted Fantasy” on this list! (read more)

Chad’s Top Albums of 2010
This year there were introductions and re-introductions. Daft Punk’s vision for Tron finally came to life, Sufjan Stevens had people questioning his musical direction, and we welcomed back BRMC’s brand of old school rock ‘n’ roll. We got to meet instrument builders Buke & Gass, the soulful Sharon Van Etten and up and coming electronic artist Baths. The following list is my version of handing you a bunch of albums with my favorite tracks marked off. (read more)

Playlist: DIG!
This may not be the coolest thing to admit, but I recently dove into Anton Newcombe’s “Love Child” after an obsession with the rockumentary DIG! Chronicling the 90’s feud between Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols, it was real, raw, and dangerous. Dare I say, revolutionizing, I saw it as more than the media’s simple perception of the film… (Listen Here)

Show Recap: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: A Two-Night Tale at Webster Hall
My first time seeing BRMC was at Jillians of Las Vegas – a mini-stage enclosed within idle video game machines at an after-hours arcade – with Kat and nearly no one else. I heard the band talking after the show about their disappointment with the turnout and I shared the same feelings. It wasn’t the busy, smoke-filled club with rowdy rockers that I imagined it would be. They played a Howl-based set, slow and intimate, material I was not so familiar with at the…. (read more)
